We Were Promised Jetpacks' "Quiet Little Voices" is the kind of song that creeps into your head, slowly and seductively, and after a while of being familiar with the song, you suddenly find yourself wanting to hear it. At least that's what happened with me. To be honest with you, after sitting through a few We Were Promised Jetpacks' concerts in varying degrees of sobriety, I wasn't sure if I ever wanted to hear the tune again. A few months later, however, I found that it was near impossible to remove the track from my head.
"Quiet Little Voices" is a song that's evocative and sexy, as raucous as it is filled with longing, and to me, it conjured up images of a gorgeous girl filmed in black and white taking dirty polaroids of herself as the band played in the background. Sure, yeah, that was totally my treatment for Interpol's "Obstacle One" as well but let's face it: That video ought to be made! What's better than a gorgeous girl filmed in black and white taking dirty polaroids of herself? A gorgeous girl filmed in black and white taking dirty polaroids of herself while a sweet band plays an awesome song in the background! Duh!
So I was kind of disappointed when I youtubed the video for "Quiet Little Voices" and found this:
Absolutely standard in every way. This song deserves something cooler. So I leave you with this picture of Karen Elson, Jack White's lady and all around gorgeous girl, frolicking about in sheer clothes whilst being photographed in black and white. Imagine this girl in clutching a polaroid camera as We Were Promised Jetpacks rocked out behind her. Tell me that's not a winning idea for a video!
